Teaching Opportunities at Home

Homeschooled kids learn more life lessons than their counterparts who go to school. Although schools teach great academics and children learn these subjects well, they are sadly lacking in teaching them how to live life.

Many adults face difficulty dealing with daily life simply because they have not been taught in school how to cope; they have not been taught life lessons. As homeschooling parents, we should be thankful that we have the opportunity to share life lessons with our children as well as lessons from the books.

Homeschooling parents can get some help from the tips give below about life lessons you can teach your children.

Home economics classes are not enough to teach a child how to live and take care of himself as an adult. With homeschooler parents they don’t just teach their kids to cook and clean as part of their schooling, they incorporate all of these lessons learned in real daily life.

Don’t clean up after children but encourage them to clean as they go. It should be a part of every lesson to clear up and then it become a habit to them to clean as they go.

Budgeting should also be taught at home. People who get themselves into financial trouble have never been taught to budget. Schools teach math which includes money but students are never taught about budgeting. The problems lie here.

You can do activities at home that will teach your children how to budget. You can use play money and a play till, and acting out shopping experience. You can also go to a child friendly store like Anthill shop N play. Here you can give them a budget each and ask them to buy some items in that store. Another way to teach this is by giving your children an allowance which has to last for a month. With only one month to last, they can spend their money on food, toys, activities and other things.

Self care is seldom taught in school although they teach children to eat healthy and stay active. We can see many adults not knowing how to take care of themselves because they were never taught as children to do so.

To help calm their minds and relax them, you can teach them meditation. They can use deep breathing to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. Art and other ways of self expression must be encouraged in children to find a way to express themselves.

Being able to educate your children in these things as a homeschooling parents is a great privilege and opportunity. They will have better chances of a happier and more successful future.
